Jamaica Borrowed US$1 Billion to Buy Back Old Bonds. Most of It Is Going to the Budget.

Jamaica priced US$1 billion of 6.25 per cent notes due 2037 on 10 September. Holders tendered about US$476.6 million of three older bonds, and the final filing puts about US$590 million of proceeds into the budget.

Jamaica's New Central Bank Governor Returned Through an IMF Office in Barbados. So Did the Governor Before Last.

Dr R. Brian Langrin became Governor of the Bank of Jamaica on 19 August 2026. He left the Bank in 2017 for CARTAC, the IMF Caribbean centre in Barbados, returning after roles at the Inter-American Development Bank and the World Bank. Brian Wynter took the same route.
