Region 3 Chamber Opens Investment Doors for Youth at EconoME Business Conference

LEONORA, West Coast Demerara, Guyana, April 18, 2026

The Essequibo Islands–West Demerara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (R3CCI) will host EconoME: Business Conference & Mixer on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at the West Central Mall Movie Theatre, beginning at 5:00 PM. The event convenes investors, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders under the theme "Untapped Waters: Investment Opportunities in Region 3."

The evening will include a structured business forum, remarks from sector leaders, and open networking. R3CCI positions the event as a working session aimed at connecting capital with opportunity in a region the chamber describes as one of Guyana's fastest-evolving economic zones.

For R3CCI President Bhabita Albert, the event carries a specific purpose beyond business development. "Hosting EconoME aligns with the Chamber's strategic plan to create opportunities to empower the youths of Region 3," she said. "Last year, we formed the Region 3 Youth Business Alliance, our junior chamber and the first of its kind in Guyana, and with the support of our members, invested in several training initiatives. This event helps to move the youths closer from idea to opportunity."

Albert noted that several R3YBA members recently attended an information session on the launch of the Guyana Development Bank. At EconoME, those same members will have access to mentors and exposure to investment pathways being shaped by national economic developments.

Region 3, which spans the Essequibo Islands and West Demerara, has historically anchored its economy in rice, sugar, and coastal agriculture. That profile is shifting. Budget 2026 earmarks infrastructure spending on the Parika to Goshen corridor and a new agro-processing port facility along the West Coast. The Gas-to-Energy project, expected to deliver up to 300 megawatts to the national grid, is widely cited as a near-term catalyst for manufacturing and industrial activity in the region.

EconoME is the fourth iteration of the event series. A fifth expanded edition, with a conference and awards component, is planned for later in 2026.

Attendance is open to business owners, investors, and professionals operating in or connected to Region 3. The West Central Mall Movie Theatre is located on the West Coast Demerara highway.

Business owners, investors, and professionals interested in attending can register at potsalt.events/econome-business-forum. Registration is open to all who operate in or have an interest in Region 3's economy.
