Stakeholders and partners have been invited to Atlantic Suites Hotel, formerly Pegasus Suites and Corporate Center on Seawall Road, Kingston, from 9:30 this morning, for the unveiling of Beyond the Wheels 2.0.

The event it is building toward is a two-day Transportation and Road Safety Summit at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre on 9 and 10 March 2027, convened by Clarke's Productions. It is built for 200 delegates across nine tracks, and it is designed to finish with something signed.

What is being launched this morning?

The 2027 Summit, and the programme leading to it.

The organisers have set out five things the launch is meant to do: unveil the 2027 Summit officially, share its vision, objectives and key areas of focus, highlight sponsors, partners and stakeholders, introduce upcoming initiatives and engagement opportunities, and invite stakeholders into the road safety conversation in the months before the Summit itself.

What is the Summit itself?

Two days at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre, capped at 200 delegates.

Beyond the Wheels 2.0 is positioned as a working summit rather than a conference, aimed at the people who set operating standards: drivers, fleet operators, regulators, insurers and government. Its organisers describe its model as drawing on the Lifesavers Conference on Roadway Safety in the United States and the executive forums of the World Economic Forum, adapted to Caribbean and Latin American conditions.

The framing on its own materials is direct. "Road safety won't fix itself. We will."

The Summit is built to produce a document, not a communiqué. Day two ends at 18:00 with a signature.

What are the nine tracks?

They run from driver mental health to trade corridors.

02Fleet Modernization and Fleet Management
03Logistics and Trade Corridors
04Infrastructure Readiness

09Economic Growth and Mobility

Two of the nine are about the people driving rather than the vehicles they drive. Track 01 covers driver mental health, professional standards and dignity at work. Track 07 covers fatigue, stress and addiction, described by the organisers as the invisible cost of long hours on the road.

Track 03 places Guyana on the regional map, covering port-to-interior routes and the country's role in Caribbean trade. Track 06 deals with pricing and fraud, which the programme calls the financial architecture behind every vehicle on the road.

What happens on each day?

Day one diagnoses. Day two commits.

Day one, Tuesday 9 March, is set out as the honest assessment: fatalities data, the operator reality and the policy gap. It opens at 08:00 with registration and a reception, moves to a national address and opening keynote at 09:00, and carries a panel on the economics of safer roads at 10:30. A closed-door operators luncheon follows at 13:00, invitation only, with sector showcases and demonstrations from 15:00.

Day two, Wednesday 10 March, is set out as the response: reform, technology, training, partnerships and public commitments. It opens at 08:30 with a driver dignity breakfast under Track 01.

It closes with the National Road Safety Declaration, signed at 18:00 by participating institutions, operators and government agencies.

Who is being asked to attend?

Nine sectors, named by the organisers.

Government, the private sector, transportation, logistics, energy, law enforcement, emergency response, education and civil society. The invitation puts the purpose as safer roads, smarter transportation and stronger communities, under the line the organisers have used throughout: "Join the Conversation. Shape the Change."

Beyond the Wheels 2.0 has been building that stakeholder base through the year. It was taken to the WeLead business audience in June, reported in Networking on the Agenda: Carlyne Stewart Brings Beyond the Wheels 2.0 to WeLead 2026, and to the Private Sector Commission in July on fleet management and road safety, reported in Private Sector Commission Meets Beyond the Wheels 2.0.
