**Quick summary:** MSC Cruises will send its new flagship MSC World Asia to the Southern Caribbean for Winter 2027/2028, the line said on 20 August, taking the deployment MSC Meraviglia had been scheduled to run. The ship will homeport at Fort-de-France, Pointe-à-Pitre and Bridgetown and call at seven regional ports.

MSC Cruises has revised its Winter 2027/2028 deployment and will bring MSC World Asia, the third ship in its World Class series, to the Southern Caribbean on seven- and 14-night itineraries. The line set out the changes in a [press release dated 20 August 2026](https://www.mscpressarea.com/en%5FINT/press-releases/msc-cruises-revises-winter-20272028-deployment/?ref=lacaribenanews.com).

The Caribbean is not gaining a ship in the reshuffle. It is changing the one it was promised. MSC Meraviglia had been scheduled for the South Caribbean that season, and the line said guests booked on it, and on MSC World Asia, will have their bookings updated and be contacted directly about individual changes.

## What did MSC Cruises actually change?

Three deployments moved at once. MSC World Europa had been scheduled for the Middle East and will now stay in the Western Mediterranean on seven-night itineraries, embarking at Barcelona and Marseille and calling at Genoa, Civitavecchia, Messina and Valletta. MSC World Asia, which had been expected to spend a second season in the Mediterranean, takes the South Caribbean instead. MSC Meraviglia comes off that route.

The consequences differ by booking. Guests holding MSC World Europa Middle East sailings are being contacted with the option to move to another sailing or take a full refund, the line said. Guests on the two ships whose regions were swapped are being told their bookings have been updated. [Porthole Cruise Magazine](https://porthole.com/msc-cruises-revises-winter-2027-28-deployment/?ref=lacaribenanews.com) carried the same account on the day of the release.

## Which Caribbean ports are on the itineraries?

MSC named three embarkation ports: Fort-de-France in Martinique, Pointe-à-Pitre in Guadeloupe and Bridgetown in Barbados. Homeporting puts arrival and departure traffic through those three, rather than the single day-call a port of call receives.

Seven ports of call follow: Castries in Saint Lucia, St. George's in Grenada, Philipsburg in Sint Maarten, St. John's in Antigua and Barbuda, Basseterre in Saint Kitts and Nevis, Roseau in Dominica, and Kingstown in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

## How big is the ship the region is being sent?

MSC World Asia is the third vessel in the World Class series. The Peoples Tribune reported a gross tonnage of 215,863, a length of 333.3 metres, capacity for up to 6,762 passengers in 2,626 cabins, and more than 2,100 crew.

The ship is not yet in service. It left Chantiers de l'Atlantique at Saint-Nazaire for its first sea trials in July 2026, and The Peoples Tribune reported it begins sailing on 4 December 2026 on seven-night Mediterranean itineraries. On the revised plan it reaches the Caribbean roughly a year after entering service.

### What does the title card show?
