**Quick summary:** The Guyana Development Bank lists what an applicant must have before starting. Both loans need one valid identity document and a phone number. The SME Loan adds business registration and a TIN, business details, market and financial information, and a statement of how the funds will be used.

An account at the Development Bank is opened with an identity number, not an email address.

## What does each loan ask for?

Three items are common to both. The SME list adds four more.

The Bank's site publishes a list headed "What You'll Need" against each product.

The two products and their ceilings were set out in [The Development Bank Has Two Loans, Not One](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-development-bank-two-loans-quick-300000-sme-3-million-2026/).

## What opens the account?

An identity number, and one of four documents will do.

The Bank accepts an E-ID, a National ID Card, a Driver's Licence or a Passport to create an account. Its sign-in page asks for a "National ID/Passport/E-ID Number" and a password, describing the number as "The Number On Your National ID Card, Passport Or E-ID, The One You Signed Up With", and its footer reads "New Applicant? Create An Account With Your National ID."

An applicant who has none of those four documents cannot open an account. Which of the four accepted documents is attached to a register, and what it does and does not hold, is set out in [The Card That Takes You to Barbados Is Also the One the Development Bank Can Read](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-eid-card-development-bank-application-barbados-travel-2026/). The requirement comes before any question about the business.

## Does the form fill itself in?

Partly, from the national identity record.

The Bank says details are "Prefilled From Your National ID Record Where Possible", and that where it cannot fetch them, "You Can Type Them In Or Upload A Document". A prefilled field is still the applicant's to check, because the Letter of Offer is issued against what the application says.

## What does the SME Loan add?

A registered business, a tax number, and figures.

Four items separate the SME application from the Quick one: business registration and a TIN, business details and location, market, customers and financial information, and a statement of how the funds will be used. A trader operating without registration or a TIN meets the Quick Loan's list and not the SME Loan's.

Business registration in Guyana is a Commercial Registry matter and a TIN comes from the Guyana Revenue Authority. Neither is obtained at the Bank, and both have to exist before the SME application can be completed.

The site presents that last requirement as a step in the application itself: "List How You'll Use The Funds".

## What has to be in place before the money moves?

A bank account, named on both lists.

Both products carry the same final item: "Bank Details Must Be Provided Before Loan Disbursement". The Bank pays into an account rather than in cash, and that requirement sits at the end of the process rather than the start, so an applicant can begin without one and cannot be paid without one.

The four steps from applying to being paid are set out in [From Application to Money in the Account](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-development-bank-four-steps-letter-of-offer-disbursement-2026/). Who assesses all of this is the board and the credit function described in [Guyana's Development Bank Has Seven Directors](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-development-bank-board-seven-directors-finance-secretary-mp-2026/), and the capital behind the lending in [G$20 Billion to Lend and a G$3 Million Ceiling](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-development-bank-20-billion-first-tranche-3-million-loans-2026/).

## Is there a route that is not online?

Yes, by appointment.

Each product also offers an alternative to the online form: "Prefer Help In Person? Book An Appointment With GDB". The home page carries a "Schedule An Appointment" button alongside "Apply Now".

A reader outside Guyana cannot see any of this, because the Bank restricts its site to visitors in the country, reported in [The Development Bank's Website Stops at Guyana's Border](https://www.lacaribenanews.com/guyana-development-bank-website-restricted-outside-guyana-2026/).
