GEORGETOWN, Guyana. Clarke's Productions Inc, convenor of Beyond the Wheels 2.0, launched its Transportation and Road Safety Summit this morning at the Atlantic Suites Hotel, formerly Pegasus Suites and Corporate Center, on Seawall Road, Kingston.

Officers of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Women's Chamber of Commerce and Industry Guyana, the Private Sector Commission of Guyana and the Guyana Press Association joined sponsors, partners and stakeholders. Scoop Ride Inc is the Summit's title sponsor.

## What happened at the launch?

Guests arrived from 9:30 for registration and networking. At 10:00, Carlyne Stewart, Managing Director of Clarke's Productions Inc, opened as master of ceremonies with a welcome and an overview of Beyond the Wheels 2.0.

Sponsor remarks and a video presentation introducing the speakers lined up for 2027 followed. On the screen beside the lectern, the organisers thanked Caribbean Transportation Consultancy Services, CARITRANS, as a strategic partner. A coffee break at 11:00 and closing remarks at 11:30 led to the close of the ceremony at noon.

Scoop Ride Inc holds the title sponsorship, the top tier, which carries naming rights and keynote time at both the launch and the Summit. ## Why does it matter who was in the room?

The Summit is pitched at the people who carry road risk on their balance sheets, and those people sit in chambers. Commercial transport operators feature in about one in four road deaths, on National Road Safety Council data, and road incidents cost Guyana an estimated G$14 billion a year, a figure attributed to the Ministry of Public Works. Fleet owners pay that cost through premiums, downtime and liability. The Press Association's presence puts reporters in position to track whether a declaration signed in March is honoured afterwards.

Beyond the Wheels 2.0 was originally set for 6 and 7 October 2026 at the Arthur Chung Conference Centre. It now runs on 9 and 10 March 2027 at the same venue.

The Summit remains capped at 200 delegates across nine tracks, from driver dignity and defensive driving to insurance, regulatory reform and mental health behind the wheel. Day one sets out the diagnosis. Day two closes at 18:00 with the signing of a National Road Safety Declaration by participating institutions, operators and government agencies.
